Large Commercially Operated Vessels

Village residents over the years owned and operated commercially a considerable number of very large sailing vessels, barges and motor vessels. Notably Joseph Going, Arthur Butcher and last of all the Norton family

Village Boating

Although a considerable anount of boating was operated from the village waterfront and the canal area, very few residents of the village owned boats and operated from there. The greater majority have for the most part over the years were outsiders.
