 He lived in the block of three cottages where 'Kedge Cottage' is now.

 He had a small motor-truck that he used to charge 6d to go to Maldon. Teenagers used to club together to pay him to take them to town, but they had to walk up Market Hill as the truck wouldn't go up it with the load.
