 In the early and mid 19th Century he owned property around the village and made several developments. He built the Chapel & Reading Room on land he owned and passed it on to the village residents

 The Coal Yard opposite the 'Exchange' was recorded as rented from him by Richard Going in1843. He owned the land and building we now as the 'Exchange' which at the time was called 'Ann Joslin's Beer House' in 1843,
