 Lock Hill

 The Garages

These were originally built as garages for the tenants of the cottages on Lock Hill, but apart from 'Biddy' Byford storing his Daimler Sport in the left end one, they were subsequently all let as storage units.

01 (above) The buildings and yard alongside the canal Basin in 1977. From left to right, the 'Red Building' used for boat building by Artur Holt and finaly by Stewrat Tolfrey. Then the row of garages with the red roof which were usually rented out as storage sheds. To the right of the garages is the 'Brick built Shed' used mainly by 'Dilbury' Clark as his workshop. At the very right hand end with the white offices in view behind it is what is known as 'The Top Yard', it's grey steel gates are just visible.
