'Warraker' family |

The Warraker family moved to
the Basin from the Maldon area. |

One of the earliest
Beerhouse's in the village was 'Thomas Warracker's Beerhouse'.
This was situated in a building on the otherside of the lock
behind the current Lock House and next to the seawall, it is
possible that this was previously Captain Tovee's residence.
It is recorded to have been in operation in 1848 and probably
was for some years earlier. |
