The 'Swann' family are another
one of the village's 'larger than life' entrepreneurial family's.
Terry an engineer, established the highly successfull company
'R & T Swann Engineering Ltd', along with his brother Roy.
Located at first near Chigwell then moved to Braintree.Terry
and his father known as 'Pappy' were both great sailors, with
Horace 'Pappy' Swann (who also lived in the village) making a
famous publicised voyage of the first to sail across the Atlantic
after WW2. Terry's son Clint followed in his father's footsteps
as an engineer, first working for Colin Brookes then moving off
on his own purchasing properties and developing in the village.
